We are looking for a motivated
HR Generalist to work out of our Zeeland, MI Corporate office and be responsible for managing the administrative Human Resources functions of our National Home Center field service team, including benefits, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, and employment law.

Additionally, they will act as a liaison with Corporate Human Resources to build strong partnerships with leadership and employees.

What are we looking for in an HR Generalist?

  • Conducts new hire onboarding and processes all documents for new employees, ensuring accurate employee data is entered into the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Completes daytoday administration of human resource programs including completing necessary documents to enroll, terminate and change employee status.
  • Manages facility's payroll records utilizing the time and attendance system and ensures timely submission of verified records to Payroll.
  • Processes and manages workers' compensation claims, assisting with the injury investigation team and fulfilling OSHA requirement for the facility.
  • Processes and coordinates FMLA claims, Workers Compensations claims and leave of absence.
  • Assists in implementing the safety programs to minimize risk and foster a safe workplace.
  • Partners with operations in processing employee relations issues, making appropriate recommendations and guiding the management to stay legal and compliant.
  • Assists with ensuring legal compliance by routinely auditing employment law postings for accuracy and adherence to established guidelines and applicable federal and state laws.
  • Plans and prepares employee appreciation events, wellness onsite visits and open enrollment.

What would make a successful HR Generalist?

  • Three or more years' experience in a generalist role.
  • Knowledge of employment and labor laws.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective communication, both written and oral. Ability to communicate with all levels of employees including management.
  • Strong leadership, developmental, and decisionmaking skills.
  • Proficiency in providing guidance related to employee relations, investigations, and similar matters.

Above and Beyond Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business management or another related field.
  • Experience with UKG.
  • Experience working in building materials or consumer goods industry.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
