The MCQMD has an opening for a The Health Program Specialist located at 1501 Capitol Avenue in Sacramento.


Under the general supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, the Health Program Specialist I (HPS I) is responsible for performing various activities as assigned and completing projects and managing aspects of the associated with the development and operation of the Medi-Cal managed care program in the area of quality improvement within which the section's physicians, nurses, and health educators provide technical assistance and oversight of Managed Care Health Plans (MCP) clinical services.

The HPS I has lead responsibility over developing and writing policy that focuses on oversight of MCPs performance on CMS' Adult Core Set quality metrics.

The HPS I performs functions that are sensitive and critical to the Department's basic mission, with responsibility to research and analyze related legislations, development policy and procedures, and coordinate high-level projects varying in scope and complexity.
