Job Duties


The Office of Health Benefits at the Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a State Health Benefits Plans Specialist.

The Office of Health Benefits administers health insurance and related benefits to agencies and political subdivisions of Virginia to assist them in recruiting and retaining highly qualified employees.

The Employee/Retiree Services unit reviews benefits communication, policies, and procedures to advance the interests of users within the bounds of law, regulations, policy, and contracts.

The section supports agency Benefits Administrators in administration of the programs, handles all appeals and employee concerns.


Minimum Qualifications


Considerable knowledge of health benefits including a knowledge of benefits administration and an understanding of standard administrative functions; Demonstrated ability to analyze regulations, cases and issues; Demonstrated ability in using a personal computer to produce correspondence and spreadsheets; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision and Demonstrated customer service skills.

High School Graduate or equivalent.
