RENEWAL MEMORY PARTNERS:
Experience and passion for helping others are key to our Care Partners' success.

We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Companion for a male client diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. This role involves providing companionship and support to the client in his daily activities, ensuring his comfort and well-being.

Schedule:
Two 4-hour visits on Tue/Thurs/Fri, likely midday/afternoon

Location:
Purchase, NY (MetroNorth, accessible)

Responsibilities:

Provide companionship and engagement

Accommodate client's interests and preferences

Support in daily activities

Assist with communication, particularly when struggling to find words due to LBD

Requirements:

Experience with Lewy Body Dementia (LBD) is essential

Patience and understanding when communicating with individuals with LBD

Ability to adapt to client's pace and preferences

Responsibilities:

Providing companionship to older adults and people with chronic health conditions in their homes (e.g., discussing current events, creating artwork, reviewing photo albums).
Providing compassionate, patient handson personal care support for ADLs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transfers.
Planning activities outside the home and accompanying clients to keep them engaged with the world (e.g., trips to museums, concerts, plays, or the park).
Escorting clients to doctors' appointments.
Running errands for clients (e.g., grocery shopping, sundries).
Reminding clients to take their medications.
Doing light exercise with clients (e.g., helping with stretching routine).
Assisting clients in preparing meals.
Performing light housekeeping, such as dusting, tidying, and laundry.

Qualifications:

A valid HHA certificate in New York State
A passion for caring for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Prior experience working with this population is valued, but not required.
Deep empathy and patience.
Flexibility, reliability, and responsiveness.
Creativity and a positive, openhearted approach.
Strong composure under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trustbased relationships with clients and their families.
