    DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

    Job Description Summary:

    Founded in 1824, the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) is one of the oldest medical schools in the U.S. and the first in the nation's capital. Renowned for its top-tier residency programs, SMHS attracts medical school graduates nationwide.

    The Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine department focuses on providing high-quality education, conducting advanced research in biochemistry, molecular genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics to enhance the understanding of human disease. They have a successful record in training students at all academic levels.

    The Research Scientist position entails planning and overseeing research activities, designing experiments, and analyzing data related to cancer research. Responsibilities include publishing results, representing the University at events, developing new methodologies, and leading research staff.

    Other duties involve:

    • Interpreting assay results and summarizing findings.
    • Assisting with manuscript preparation.
    • Aiding in grant applications.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Master's degree with 5 years of experience or PhD with 2 years of related experience, including research and teaching.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    - Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and present progress reports.
    - Postdoc experience is highly desired.

    Typical Hiring Range: Commensurate with Experience.
