Job Summary_

Service Worker II performs manual labor related to parks/landscape/beach maintenance, facilities maintenance, right-of-way maintenance, and stormwater management.

Essential Functions_


  • Performs parks and landscape maintenance to include operation of small hand power tools and landscape equipment.
  • Conducts facilities maintenance including custodial work. Makes routine repairs and replacements (light bulbs, air filters, etc.).
  • Provides stormwater maintenance including inspecting and cleaning storm drain inlets and logging storm-water management related activities.
  • Operates a vehicle and heavy equipment such as a backhoe, bucket truck; performs heavy manual labor.
  • Responds to emergency situations before, during and after regular work hours.
  • Set up and break down furniture for meetings. Removes litter from around facilities.
  • Maintains rights-of-way including traffic control signs, removing litter and debris.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on various equipment such as power tools, lawn maintenance equipment, small gas engines, etc. and maintaining logs.

Qualifications_

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • One (1) year or more previous experience and/or training involving grounds, utilities, or facilities maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License.
  • NIMS Certification at appropriate level for position.
  • Stormwater Erosion and Sedimentation Control Inspector Certification.
  • Chemical applicators licenses related to pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, etc.
  • Functional knowledge of maintenance tasks and procedures for parks, beach and landscaped facilities, rightsofway, stormwater infrastructure, preventative maintenance and repairs and construction, engineering, and public works related terminology.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to write and complete simple reports and forms. Possess basic computer skills.
  • Skill in operation and maintenance of equipment and tools related to the position.

Physical Environment_

  • Prolonged periods standing and moving.
  • Must be able to lift 4060 lbs. regularly.
  • Frequent need for bending, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, kneeling.
  • Frequent need for attention to detail.
  • Frequent exposure to dangerous equipment, chemicals.
  • Very frequent exposure to physical effort, noise, and outdoor temperature extremes.

Pay:
From $20.00 per hour
