    University of Miami is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Neurology Level II for a nursing job in Miami, Florida.

    The Department of Neurological Surgery is currently seeking a full time Registered Nurse - Specialty to work in Miami, FL.

    The Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty, delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service while ensuring population-specific patient care.

    The Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty, oversees nurses and allied health staff in their daily practice.

    Assesses assigned patients and evaluates plans to include documentation of nursing care, and reports symptoms and changes in patients' condition and vital signs.


    • Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals related to assigned patients to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
    • Administers and maintains accurate records related to medications and treatments as per regulatory bodies, policies, procedures and physician orders.
    • Communicates plan of care in a timely manner to patient and family, as well as the appropriate team members, ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines (i.e., Uses available resources to assist in discharge planning.
    • Plans, prioritizes, and adjusts assignments to accomplish goals and render superior patient care; seeks assistance when needed.
    • Safely operates medical equipment. Serves as a preceptor and assists new staff in the provision of care in order to help them acclimate to the healthcare environment, and a direct patient care role.
    • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
    Associate degree in Nursing

    Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
    Knowledge of medical terminology


    • Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
    • In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (i.e., sanitation, decontamination etc.)
    • Provides care to patients with complex cranial and spinal conditions by triaging and performing health assessment, developing differential diagnosis, and/or prescribing medications and/or treatments as directed by physicians/providers.
    • Identifies and prioritizes nursing care needs for patients/families.
    • Establishes methods to evaluate and document nursing interventions and plan of care
    • Prepares, assists, and attends weekly MRI multidisciplinary committee for base of skull and spinal patients, follow up with recommendations made as needed
    • Oversees and monitors most recent patient assessment and outcomes to determine if current plan of care should be adjusted
    • Optimizes patient care by evaluation, current practices, reviewing alternatives, consulting with patient care managers and educating team
    • Collaborates closely with patient care providers for direction in patient care as needed
    • Coordinates services with other patient care teams as required; maintains communication with allied services and maintains community liaison as appropriate.
    • Associate degree in Nursing
    Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
