SummaryRide Engineering Manager
The Strat (Las Vegas, NV)
Description:
Responsible for the daily operations of the Ride Engineering department, including ensuring and maintaining a high safety standard, ride reliability, preventative maintenance, optimum capacity, and ride aesthetics for all rides at the Stratosphere, as well as monitoring daily ride performance, and coordinating and documenting repairs.
Responsible for hiring, evaluating, supervising, developing, and disciplining of staff
Ensure all new or transferred employees are adequately trained to safely perform their job duties, and document all training as it occurs
Maintain knowledgebase and conduct the staff training of all ride and attraction operational and safety procedures, life safety systems and emergency evacuation procedures
Responsible as the City of Las Vegas Qualified Individual that ensures code compliance with all applicable government codes and regulations including ride audits and annual City operation certificate renewals
Ensure the safe operation of property rides and attractions
Oversee all maintenance and safety plans related to the rides and ride facilities
Ensure prompt notification of appropriate personnel of any defective equipment and/or potential safety hazards
Coordinate all mechanical maintenance as it relates to rides, machinery, and equipment
Actively participate with the process of identifying, finding, ordering and storing parts and supplies
Consistently demonstrate professionalism and strong, rational behavior and leadership in emergency and high-pressure situations; including but not limited to situations involving guests, employees, and/or mechanical situations
Ensure assigned staff act in a business professional manner
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum three - five years related experience and/or training
or equivalent combination of education and experience
Prior experience as a Ride Mechanic in a theme park or similar setting preferred
Previous management experience, including but not limited to, leading, developing, and motivating staff preferred
Previous experience with PLC-based logic, electomechanical and hydraulically-controlled systems related to amusement ride operations preferred
Must have working knowledge of safety, operation, and maintainance regulations required for amusement rides
Proficiency with Apple Mac OS preferred
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Experience working with collective bargaining agreements preferred
Understanding of P&
L, budgets, forecasting, and scheduling
Must possess a thorough working knowledge of the operation of hand and power tools, heavy equipment, etc. Must be able to train others on the safe usage of equipment.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor'
s Degree from a college or university preferred

Physical Requirements
Stand, stoop, bend, lift, turn, step and climb in order to maintain ride equipment
Lift and position items up to 50 lbs.
Climb up 4 flights of stairs and/or 240 feet of sectioned ladders.
Vision, hearing, speech and literacy (critical).
Ability to work (including perform routine maintenance) at extreme heights and in extreme weather conditions.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Read Blueprints, Electrical Schematics, and Hydraulic Schematics and have an understanding of PLCs, Electronic configurations and troubleshooting.
