- 6 month contract - possibility of extensionDesigns, develops and applies methods for histology studies (e.g. ISH, IHC) for biology research. Design and performs tissue processing, ISH/IHC experiments, imaging, data analysis and assembles study reports.
- Supports activities associated with the development and execution of methods relevant to ex vivo tissue analysis and histology studies
- Document the development and establishment of histology methods for to support research and development activities for research and IND-enabling studies
- Collaborates with Research stakeholders to build scientific knowledge, capabilities, and strategies by providing ex vivo tissue analysis data to support research program decisions
- Actively collaborates with project leads to initiate and optimize experimental designs for ex vivo tissue analysis, histology studies, and performs experiments to generate data to support development projects from candidate nomination to clinical development
- Identifies and resolves technical problems through scientific understanding, options assessment, and application of innovative solutions
- Prepares clear and concise technical reports and participates in project team discussions
- Executes on strategy, vision, and direction set by line management
- Contributes to the decision-making processes within the project team by actively engaging in scientific and technical discussions
- Performs other duties as assigned
- BA/BS in Biochemistry, Biology, or other relevant discipline and 2+ years of Biotechnology industry experience in biologics including gene therapy-specific techniques OR
- Master's/PhD in relevant discipline and Some similar experience as noted above
- Skilled in histological technichques, such as paraffin and OTC embedding, tissue sectioning, microscopy (light, confocal, etc.) required.
- Strong knowledge of basics of imaging required.
- Skilled in software related to image analysis (e.g. HALO, Image J, etc)
- Experience with tissue analysis (ddPCR, ELISA) required.
- Knowledge of brain anatomy preferred.
- Recognizes fundamental anomalies in data points and identifies issues in experiments / processes
- Begins to understand how to think outside of the technical process and consider the impact decisions will have on the broader scientific goals
- Strong knowledge of one scientific discipline
- Good knowledge of scientific principles, methods and techniques
- Good knowledge and demonstrated ability working with a variety of laboratory equipment/tools
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Strong computer skills
- Good communications, problem-solving, analytical thinking skills
- Detail oriented
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Good project management skills
