    The Seasonal Nurse will assist in facilitating medically sound and safe camping experiences for children living with serious and chronic illness. The nurse will provide clinical nursing care to campers, volunteers, and staff while at camp. Team Overview: The Medical Team ensures our campers, volunteers, and staff thrive in a physically and emotionally safe environment by delivering quality medical care and psychosocial support. This team caters to the specific diagnoses we serve by welcoming talented volunteer doctors, nurses, and specialists to support our campers each session. In adherence with laws and camp governing bodies; they develop, plan, and implement emergency medical procedures and policies.

    Responsibilities:

    • Attend Seasonal Staff Training (May 27- June 6)
    • Provide direct medical care for campers, but also to volunteers and staff
    • Manage medical care details of assigned camper group each session - this includes pre-camp preparation, arrival day check-in/departure day check-out with camper families, daily med distribution, overnight on-call duties, and cabin nursing care.
    • Preparation, administration, and documentation of medication distribution in accordance with physician orders
    • Act as a preceptor for rotating nursing students
    • Lead weekly medical orientation for volunteers
    • Manage administrative duties pre/post camp related to Well Nest inventory and charts.
    • Fill role on the emergency staffing table as needed.
    Requirements:

    Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience

    • Willingness to communicate and coordinate with all members of the camp team to provide a safe (physical and psychological) environment for campers
    • Understand pediatric clinical care and be able to act as a medical resource for full time, seasonal and volunteer staff.
    • Understand the importance of professionalism and confidentiality in all communication and adhere to all policies
    • Ability to provide empathetic and caring communication to campers and families
    • Ability to live on site (housing provided)
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

    Preferred Skills, Qualifications & Experience

    • Valid BLS for the healthcare professional certification (PALS and ACLS preferred)
    • Registered Nurse License, valid in the state of Ohio
    • Experience with gtube care, infusions, and port/broviac care preferred
    • Experience in clinical pediatric or medical camp preferred
    • Valid Driver's License
