    GHHI seeks a full time Hazard Reduction Worker to conduct lead hazard reduction, healthy homes, weatherization and housing rehabilitation interventions and safety hazard remediation in its Baltimore office for GHHI's Maryland Housing Intervention Services Program. The position will help reduce home-based environmental health hazards and energy loss to create safe and energy efficient homes for low-income children, older adults, and their families.     Hazard Reduction Worker Responsibilities:

    • Conduct weatherization and energy efficiency interventions including among other activities: caulking, blown and rolled insulation, installing weather stripping, sealing air leaks, addressing water leaks and moisture infiltration, installing venting and energy efficient lighting.
    • Conduct lead hazard reduction and healthy homes interventions.
    • Perform highly skilled carpentry work to include framing, window replacement and repair, door replacement, roof repair, drywall, and interior and exterior painting.
    • Conduct Aging in Place measures to reduce slip, trip and fall hazards and improve accessibility in homes of older adults.
    • Contribute frequently to quality control and constant program improvement via input with your Crew Chief and Housing Rehabilitation Director when opportunities for improvement are noticed.
    • Full and absolute understanding and compliance with all federal, state, and local laws regarding hazard reduction work.
    • Understand and comply with all Green & Healthy Homes Initiative rules and regulations.
    • Assist management and Crew Chief with keeping the program goals and member goals on schedule to meet deliverables.
    • Maintain a positive working atmosphere with the GHHI Housing Intervention Services team to keep group efforts focused on the mission of the organization. This also includes promoting appropriate work behaviors and attitudes and mutual respect with GHHI staff and clients.
    • Safe operation of company vehicles and transporting supplies and staff to work sites where appropriate.
    • Properly maintaining all personal protection equipment and intervention equipment and reporting any defects or loss to your Crew Chief immediately.
    • Timely loading of daily job materials and equipment and timely departure for job site(s). Consistent adherence to re-shelving/storing unused materials and supplies from daily jobs to assigned garage location and reporting of materials usage.
    • Participating in all day-to-day activities of the Housing Intervention Services team.
    • Record keeping and timesheet recording.
    • All other reasonable activities to support the Program and GHHI's mission.

    The GHHI Hazard Reduction Worker will participate in an accredited training program and be required to successfully complete the following (at the cost of the organization):

    • Passage of Maryland Lead Supervisor or Lead Worker certification.
    • Passage of EPA Renovation Repair & Painting Rule Renovator certification.
    • Passage of OSHA 10-hour Occupational Health and Safety Course.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • General construction skills, ability to use power and hand tools, painting equipment and supplies necessary to complete projects involved in Weatherization, Lead Hazard Reduction, Healthy Homes and Housing Rehabilitation interventions to include but not limited to the removal and replacement of doors and windows, painting, caulking, drywall repair, paint stabilization and specialized hazard reduction measures.
    • Lifting, stretching, and bending are all constant components of the required work. Must be able to lift 50+ pounds and work on a ladder.
    • Ability to effectively work in confined spaces, e.g., attics and crawlspaces.
    • High school diploma, equivalency certificate or prior experience in similar positions demonstrating high level of proficiency and quality in completing work.
    • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license in the State of Maryland, required auto insurance and reliable transportation.
