The Trauma Registry manages and maintains the computerized trauma registry, which is used for injury research, epidemiology, and quality improvement activities.

Full-time Monday-Friday 8am-5pm_


Responsibilities:


  • Collects all data and coordinates the initial trauma data, data entry, development of reports, and outcome measures established by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
  • Collects followup data on all registry patients, enters information into the registry, and completes data retrieval and statistical analyzes of registry data on a priority basis.
  • Functions as system manager of the computerized trauma registry to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness in reporting on the Hospital's trauma data. Monitors data/reports for quality assurance purposes and participates on quality committees.
  • Identifies all eligible trauma cases, including abstract cases, and enters patient data into the TraumaOne computerized registry.
  • Interprets medical data to evaluate patients' response to treatment, identifies complications due to treatment or systemic issues, and understands various data analysis techniques such as injury severity scores and survival analysis within an automated registry environment.
  • Maintains contact with various internal and external departments and organizations regarding patient and registry information and data regarding any approved research and/or educational purposes and related software issues.
  • Performs miscellaneous jobrelated duties as requested.

Requirements:


  • Associates in Biology, Anatomy, Statistics, or a related field or a combination of education and experience
  • Four (4) or more years of experience abstracting and coding in an ACSverified accredited trauma program
  • Certified Specialist in Trauma Registry (CSTR) certification within nine months of hire
  • Certification in Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) certification within two years of hire

Preferences:


  • Bachelors in Allied Health, Biology, Anatomy or Statistics
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in trauma registry in a Level 1 ACSverified trauma center
