Telework Information:

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite, per week.

California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) seeks an IT Manager I that will serve as the manager of the Linux Servers and VMWare Unit under the Technology Infrastructure Services Division (TISD) / Datacenter Section.


The IT Manager I responsibilities include:

  • Plan, lead, organize, and control all work activities and technical functions of the team
  • Perform, manage, and coordinate the procurements, maintenance, and life cycle of IT systems hardware and software
  • Organize, plan, and participate in various project activities, meetings, incident troubleshooting and management
  • Conduct personnel and other administrative activities such as employee performance evaluation, develop and maintain team skillsets, retain talents, and manage staff coverage and workloads

Working Conditions


The IT Manager I is required to carry a smartphone and respond to incidents after business hours, on weekends, and State Holidays.
