- and x-ray producing equipment at over 7,000 facilities including in medical, academic and research settings. The ORH program operates with
- statutory authority and delegation from, or agreements with, New York State, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Food and Drug

  • Administration (FDA),and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  • DUTIES WILLINCLUDEBUTNOTBELIMITED TO:
  • Provide leadership and supervision to a staff of 20 or more technical and administrative employees in providing core and routine activities for
the Office of Radiological Health and provide day to day management of staff assignments, schedules and allocation of resources.- Direct, manage and approve the creation of plans, protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)and training materials for inspection of

licensed facilities with radioactive materials and x-ray producing equipment. Arrange training, exercises, and drills for staff, regulated community
- and stakeholders.
  • Lead strategic direction of research activities and studies for the Agency on new and emerging advancements in the field of radiological materials and equipment and in the regulatory environment.
  • Develop technical guidance, informational factsheets, and recommendations, as appropriate, to assess industry developments such as advanced radiation techniques and new technology features in the healthcare industries and academic intuitions.
  • Provide scientific research and review during radiation emergencies, if needed, including guidance on the use of radiation detection equipment and software to conduct, record, and evaluate and assessment of radiological contamination.
  • Perform administrative duties of various levels of difficulty in areas such as invoicing, fiscals pending plans, budget tracking and grant
management.- Identify funding opportunities to strengthen and enhance the program and maintain revenue growth.

  • Serve as a highlevel interagency liaison and represent the agency in multiagency meetings. Represent the Agency on issues and concerns at
public forums, inter and intra agency meetings, conferences and other venues.

  • Forecast ORH goals and objectives in short

- and long-term operations.
  • Oversee public reporting of enforcement data, including Open Data, City Council annual reporting requirements and other performance and
management data reporting.- Implement the Health Department's agency initiatives and values for ORH including human resources (recruitment, hiring, staff performance


evaluation sand mentorship), labor relations (timekeeping, coordinating employee leave), health and safety and worksite wellness.- Participate in Agency-wide required activities for emergency preparedness during public health emergencies.
