Description
Connecting area youth with supportive mentors is fun and fulfilling work. Big Brothers Big Sisters' youth mentoring program seeks to fill the position of Enrollment & Match Support Specialist.

This position involves the recruitment, training, and screening of adult volunteers to be matched as "Big Brother" or "Big Sister" mentors to community youth throughout the area.

Responsibilities also include interviewing and screening the youth/family to be matched as a "Little Brother" or "Little Sister" mentee.

This process involves an in-person visit with potential mentor and a visit to the youth's home, unless covid restrictions are heightened and the interview must be conducted virtually until an in-person meeting can be held.

Once a mentoring match is made, provide routine follow-up communications to each match to provide support, guidance, ensure compliance with Agency policies and monitor safety and well-being.

This position also requires maintenance of participant files (electronic and paper copy) in accordance with Agency standards; planning and facilitation of group activities for matches to attend (following current safety guidelines regarding covid-19 mitigation); and participation in Agency community outreach/networking/recruitment efforts to expand the program/serve more area families.


JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Social Service background with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a human services related field. Must have a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license and meet state required automobile insurance minimum.


SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE:
Verbal and written communication skills that reflect top-notch, professional interpersonal skills and customer service. High level of interviewing/assessment skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality throughout daily operations. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Ability to collect meaningful data and draw solid conclusions.


TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field
  • 2 years of human services experience
  • Typing skill for computer data entry
  • Completion of BBBS "The Learning Exchange" online training courses upon hire

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Routine office environment, must maintain some flexibility in work hours in order to meet customer needs
- such as some evening or weekend shifts to complete home visits/interviews/activity/etc. When home visits are indicated, must travel to communities in service area. Mileage Reimbursement offered.


CERTIFICATES REQUIRED:

  • FBI Finger Prints
  • Child Abuse History Clearance
  • State Criminal Record Check

DUTIES:

  • Manage and provide support to assigned caseload of youth/adult matches.
  • Respond and follow up to volunteer inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Recruit volunteers from the community to work with youth that are referred.
  • Help plan and implement group activities for Big/Little matches (May be virtual during times of covid mitigation).
  • Attend any assigned workshops or webinars for training purposes.
  • Assist in other program functions as required such as special events, to support the program.
  • Maintain ongoing communication about our services to agencies who refer youth to our program.
  • Communicate with volunteers and families regarding activities.
  • Provide input for use in Agency publications, social media, and website. At times videoconferencing will be used for staff supervision, meetings, and client communications.
  • Support the Board with program data for reports as requested.
  • Process all necessary forms for completing a match. This includes the Bigs, Littles, and families.
  • Arrange and make home visits with the Big and the Little's family.
  • Provide orientation for the Bigs to onboard and implement the match process.
  • Maintain and record communications in Agency online data system and paper copies as necessary called "Match Support Contacts" with the matched pairs and families.
  • Other duties as assigned

Pay:
$ $18.00 per hour

No more than 40 per week
