Purpose:
To assist and act as functional merchandise handler within the Distribution Center. To perform manual (up to 90%) and clerical (10%) work in the daily operations of the Distribution center.


Scope:
Responsible to assisting in all merchandise handling within Distribution Center.

Must acquire familiarity with the various types of merchandise and materials and the clerical/administrative work associated with distribution center/warehouse environment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Required:
Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to:

  • Must be able to use Material Handling Equipment (forklift, order picker, electric pallet jack).
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times. Assist customers when required.
  • Takes daily direction from the DC Supervisor and Group Leader.
  • Process receiving orders correctly, according to each appointment.
  • Responsible for inspecting and proper handling whether staging, stocking or picking any merchandise, protect from damage. Inform Supervisor or GL in charge.
  • Able to palletize products.
  • Correctly account for all merchandised handled and keep extreme care when handling all sensitive material either due to damageability or security requirements.
  • Able to work in heights up to 25 ft.
  • Work different hours when required and accept cross training for wellrounded development.
  • Load/unload always following the established procedures for such as sofas, electronics, furniture, etc.
  • Daily Inspection of the equipment as required.
  • Responsible for using the correct equipment to load and unload in order to protect merchandise at all times.
  • Complete own assignments expeditiously and safely.
  • Extreme care with black wrapped (high security/high value products) pallets.
  • Processing of all in/outbound orders and allocates correctly using system.
  • Responsible for taking care of equipment used and charging equipment at the end of shift.
  • Transfer merchandise from stores and ensuring proper handling conditions to minimize risk of damage.
  • Requires the ability to perform all primary job tasks at an accuracy level of 99% or higher.
  • Maintain assigned area clean and hazard free following safety requirements at all times.
  • Assist Inventory-Loss Prevention to resolve inventory errors or other discrepancies.
  • Report discrepancies immediately to the Supervisor of any Safety hazards and follow procedures at all times.
  • Other related duties maybe assigned.

DUTIES:


Typical:
This position exists within various departments of the LAC Distribution Center.

Merchandise ordered by the system (AR) and processed and shipping by PRIYA; prepared for receiving, stocking, store transfers or for home delivery.


  • The merchandise material handlers must be very detailed oriented and extremely accurate as mistakes could result in waste in effort to correct or prove very costly to remedy in terms of cost of product lost, etc

SUPERVISION:


Received:
Direct supervision by GL or DC Supervisor/Duty Supervisor or higher DC/Operations Group management.


EQUIPMENT:


Required:
Standard handheld WMS/RF scanning guns.


WORKING CONDITIONS:


Usual:

The working environment is a DC/warehouse without air condition and with a cement floor where nearly 100% of the day is spent.

Temperatures vary from approximately 40 degrees in the winter to 100 degrees plus in the summer. There is an air-conditioned administrative areas in the warehouse for office and technical work spaces. Position involves potentially going in and out of the air-conditioned space into the warehouse throughout the day.


Special:
Some exposure though mínimal to weather and physical hazards which are normal for a DC/warehouse environment.

In the process of moving boxes and packages from one location to another, the associate must lift, bend, stoop, climb and pull.

This position requires working at heights in order to store items in storage racks. Individuals in this job will be on their feet approximately 100% of each day.
