Introduction:


The
Department of Revenue is looking for a Revenue Auditor 3 that acts as a lead worker of Gateway Program auditors and billing agents in the Audit Bureau's Individual Income Tax Section.

Position Summary:

This is an advanced level return auditor position responsible for reviewing return audits of individual income and credit claims.

This position acts as unit lead worker over positions responsible for preparing notices of assessment or refund based federal audit reports and similar pre-defined return adjustments.

In addition, this position provides technical and systems assistance and training to staff in the Individual Income Tax Section.

Auditors at this level are experts in:

  • Researching Wisconsin tax laws and administrative rules
  • Developing and revising audit techniques and procedures
  • Customer service and training techniques.

Salary Information:

Starting salary will be between $33.87 and $40.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications, plus benefits. For information on state benefits click

Current state employees' pay will be set in accordance with pay upon appointment provisions of the compensation plan for broadband pay schedule/range A 24-month probationary period may be required.


Job Details:


The department will conduct a background check, fingerprint check and tax compliance check prior to making an offer to hire.

Interview results may be reused in accordance with the State of WI interview reuse policy.

Qualifications:Please address the following in your letter of qualifications and résumé:

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree with a major in accounting or taxation from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience Auditing Tax Returns of Individuals for WI and/or federal income taxes laws.

Qualifications that may be evaluated at a later stage in the selection process:

  • Experience resolving individual income tax appeals.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience training staff.
  • Experience reviewing staff's technical work output.
  • Experience researching complex technical issues.
  • Knowledge of the Department's WINPAS system.
