Overview:


Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is excited to present a new training program for the experienced registered nurse who is interested in transitioning to an acute care pediatric setting.

The Transition Fellow ranging from 12 weeks to 16 weeks depending on the area of specialty, includes competency-driven clinical immersion and curriculum, as well as formal mentoring and debriefing.

The Transition Fellow will prepare and support the experienced nurse as they enter into a pediatric specialty area.


Purpose Statement/Position Summary

The Registered Nurse on 5 East Medical Surgical Unit works under general supervision, conducts patient assessments, participates in the development of the plan of care, implements and evaluates care according to patient specific age and/or developmental needs.

Collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of care. Employee will follow applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.


5 East is 32-bed medical/surgical unit that cares for a broad range of patients, both in complexity and age. Primary patient populations include NICCU graduates, respiratory diagnoses such as bronchiolitis, genetic diagnoses such as cystic fibrosis or sickle cell anemia, and patients with neurologic disorders or seizures. 5 East takes pride in its ability to work as a team and are looking for potential team members who are willing to work under the motto "We share in our care".

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience


1 year of experience working as an RN in an acute care or non-acute care setting, however acute care experienced is preferred.


Education/Licensure/Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) required. CA RN license and current American Heart Association BLS and PALS certification required.
