- Provides professional parent instruction and delivery of information to district families implementing the Parent as TeachersTM (PAT) Curriculum to parents and children, prenatal to kindergarten.
- Responsible for providing the required number of personal home visits to families and children.
- Implements interactive individualized family learning activities and projects to expand child development knowledge, demonstrate meaning play/learning activities for children, increase parent/guardian/child bonding, positive discipline and communication.
- Recruits new families for the program while building community relationships.
- Assesses family needs and provide developmentally appropriate information, guidance, and support to parents.
- Maintain accurate records of visits and accurately complete the home visiting forms reflecting the progress of the family and child. Assist with referral to Early On or other family supports.
- Facilitates play groups, parent group meetings, and parent child field trips. Partnering with the Great Start Collaborative and Parent Coalition to offer community programming.
- Participates in professional development trainings and activities as required.
- Maintains professional relationships with parents, community members, and building administrators.
- Completes and submits forms and required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Communicates regularly with parents regarding the development and other educational concerns of their children.
- Through interaction with parents empower them to be their child's first and most important teacher by encouraging positive parent/child interaction and expressing the importance of same.
- Reports any suspected abuse/neglect immediately.
- Follows safety protocol, including using safety devices, as outlined by the program.
- Sanitize educational materials after each use.
- Submit timesheets in a timely manner using company protocol.
- Consistently models Win-Win leadership.
- Participates in Center for Countywide Programs and project staff meetings as requested by the department supervisor and/or Director of Services.
- Serves as representative to assigned families in a variety of meetings and planning sessions and provide resources and referrals to families as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Conducts and assists with child development screenings including but not limited to vision, hearing, the understanding and use of language, motor development, hand-eye coordination, and health and physical development for children from prenatal to kindergarten. Partners with families to ensure quality service delivery and a successful home visiting system for Genesee County. Delivers Parents As TeachersTM curriculum with fidelity to model. Partners with the Great Start Collaborative and Parent Coalition to offering parenting enrichment and leadership opportunities.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
Education:
High school diploma/equivalent required. Parents as TeachersTM (PAT) curricula and training documentation are preferred for candidates with high school diplomas. CDA or Vocational Education Certification in Early Childhood or Associate Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood, Social Work, Psychology, or related Human Service Field. Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood, Family Life, Child Development, Social Work, Psychology, or related Human Service Field preferred.
Experience:
Experience working with young children and their families. Prefer experience working with low income families in an urban setting. Work experience that demonstrates the ability to work well with community service agencies, families, case management, and/or data management.
Skills/Other:
Ability to accept supervision and direction. Work as a team member; establish family (client) goals, implements a variety of training modules and meet the individualized needs of assigned families (clients). Ability to utilize district technology and maintain proficiency as required skill sets change with technology and/or the needs of the district. Must have a valid Michigan driver license and have the ability to travel to and from homes in the assigned geographical area.

Must exhibit emotional stability and the physical stamina necessary for lifting and moving training materials from the work site to clients' homes. Ability to work a flexible workday, work week, and work year. Exhibit an interest and enthusiasm for working with low income families/children, peers, Center for Countywide Programs staff and representatives from the Department of Health and Human Services. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times. Punctuality and good attendance are requirements for the position.
