About the Position


The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for orchestrating coordinated communication plans among multiple stakeholders (Head of School, Enrollment, Advancement, Faculty & Staff, etc.) to various audiences (current and prospective families, alumni, employees, and the HMS community).

This person is fully responsible for the school's brand, marketing, social media, advertising, public relations, and related agency/vendor resources.

A strategist, they are also a strong manager and collaborator, and thrive on "getting things done." The Director of Marketing and Communication supervises the communications team, works in close collaboration with the Head of School, the Director of Enrollment, and the Director of Advancement, and reports to the Head of School.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the communications and marketing team's strategy and work to serve Enrollment and Advancement goals.
  • Coordinate communications and marketing/community relations efforts with prospective families, incoming families, outgoing families
  • Coordinate efforts (including your own) to capture and organize photography and videography to effectively tell High Mowing School stories and support marketing and communication goals.
  • Assist Enrollment and Advancement departments to develop materials for their constituencies, serving as project leader and coordinator with designers and printers.
  • Manage and direct social media platforms for High Mowing and Pine Hill at High Mowing, keeping channels updated with fresh content reflecting daily life of the school and admissions and advancement priorities. Primary platforms include Instagram, facebook, Linkedin, Vimeo, tiktok.
  • Oversee and direct parent and community newsletter strategy and content.
  • Oversee and direct the content and marketing intentions of the school website.
  • Review and analyze website traffic and SEO strategies for the website
  • Maintain accurate copy on referring websites (e.g., Google My Business, Private School Review, Niche, GreatSchools, wikipedia.)
  • Manage, execute, and evaluate marketing strategies of print, digital, and social ad campaigns, and associated budget.
  • Direct the appearance and brand consistency of all print and electronic material.

Travel a bit further to Montreal in Quebec, Canada, for a weekend with an international feel.


Qualifications

  • B.A. or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years marketing and communications experience.
  • An appreciation for, and understanding of, Waldorf education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a broad constituency and to coordinate a high volume of diverse assignments, effectively handle competing priorities, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Able to work collaboratively with other departments and constituencies.
  • Proficiency in use of standard industry tools for digital marketing. Ability to learn HMS' database, content management system, and other software as needed.
  • Experience using social media channels.
  • Meticulous grammar, editing, and writing, presentation and communication skills with excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment in making independent decisions with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
