Description

This is a full time day shift position working as a bench supervisor for Sahuarita Hospital clinical lab.

Will work a bench as a generalist in chemistry, hematology and blood bank in addition to supervising day to day lab operations.

Position Purpose
Provides day to day technical supervision of the hospital laboratory.

Accessible to testing personnel for resolution of technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Laboratory Director and/or the Medical Director.

Organizes and directs the daily activities of the laboratory.

responsible for supervising laboratory staff, conducting and overseeing quality assurance and quality control, and collecting, analyzing and interpreting lab results.

This is considered a working supervisor. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks as assigned by the manager or director. Must have hospital laboratory experience.


Position Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

Education:
"Required
: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited program;
Or Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry, biology, or microbiology with 2 years of full time clinical laboratory experience;
Associates of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Or Equivalent military training and 2 years of full time laboratory experience."


Experience:

Required: Four (4) years of clinical laboratory experience in high complexity testing with a sound working knowledge of the area of supervision.


Skills:
Ability to read, communicate, and document effectively through oral, written, or electronic means. Excellent skills in customer relations and employee supervision. Demonstrates the constant ability to prioritize and respond promptly to a changing workload. Ability to respond to multiple situations and questions that require sound judgments and action for quality patient care.


Licenses/Certifications:

Preferred: Certifications: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or American Medical Technolologists (AMT); or American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB).
