We have around 10,000 sales people across the world, within market roles and ranging in areas like Field Sales, Key Accounts, Trade Marketing and Category Development.


About the role:


The Director of Category Growth Management is pivotal in fostering robust customer partnerships through data-driven insights, crafting persuasive selling narratives, and driving portfolio expansion.

Reporting directly to the Customer Marketing Director, this role entails spearheading the development and execution of category growth plans tailored to the regional Business Unit (BU) categories and brands.

By leveraging consumer and shopper insights, this role innovates to achieve mutually beneficial business growth across online and offline channels.

This role can be based in Parsippany, NJ, Minneapolis, MN, Bentonville, AR or Cincinnati, OH.


Your responsibilities:


In summary, you'll:

  • Owns the development and execution of comprehensive Category Growth Plans (CPG) for the regional Business Unit (BU), ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Formulate precise category management strategies encompassing merchandising, product assortment, placement, pricing, and promotion, with a keen focus on both online and offline channels.
  • Manages Category Management teams, located remotely and embedded within field sales, focused on execution of the category strategy at specific key customers.
  • Act as the goto internal category expert, collaborating seamlessly with crossfunctional teams, including sales, strategy, shopper marketing, and insights, to create actionable category plans.
  • Present strategic insights confidently and articulately in various settings, including customer meetings, internal discussions, and board meetings.
  • Cultivate enduring partnerships with customers, including seniorlevel engagement, to foster trust and collaboration.
  • Collaborate proactively with the customer team to spearhead category leadership initiatives in omnichannel and digital solutions.
  • Remain abreast of market trends and competitor strategies, continually refining category strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Contribute actively to the development of Category Management best practices, leveraging industry insights and expertise to enhance departmental capabilities.

The experience we're looking for:


  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in sales, category management, trade marketing, or related roles.
  • Proven track record of leading successful customer engagements and building collaborative partnerships.
  • Expertise in syndicated and panel data analysis, pricing optimization, promotion strategies, and assortment planning software.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Indepth understanding of industry trends, national category management best practices, and retail merchandising tactics.
