How You'll Make a Difference:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a crucial part of patient care, contributing to assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the nursing process.
Working under RN supervision, the LPN offers guidance in patient education and activities congruent with their education and proven competencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Under RN guidance, assess the physical, psychological, and social aspects of patients in both the Health Care Unit and housing units, aiding in personalized treatment planning and consulting with RNs and staff as necessary.
Execute treatment programs directed by Health Care Practitioners, administering medications (including IV therapy if certified), and conducting diagnostic tests following established protocols and procedures.
Participate in controlled substance counts at each shift's start, following safety protocols and standard precautions while responding to codes or health emergencies within set guidelines.
Assist in medical or minor surgical procedures, implement nutritional and therapeutic diet plans, and document nursing encounters using SOAP charting, ensuring effective communication with nursing staff, physicians, and relevant personnel.
Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, showcasing dedication to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures for high-quality patient care.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
Completion of a nursing school program accredited by the state.
Experience
Preference for a minimum of one (1) year of clinic experience
Licenses/Certifications
Possess and maintain current licensure as a Licensed Practical/Licensed Vocational Nurse in the employing state.
Must acquire and retain CPR certification.
Additional Details:
We seek a full-time, 40-hour per week LPN to join the clinical team at McHenry County Jail.
