Position Title: 1:1 Aide

Summary:

The role of the One-to-One Aide is to provide educational support, and physical support as needed, to a specific student or small group of students.

The One-to-One Aide will follow the students schedule and provide support throughout the entire day. The One-to-One Aide is expected to establish and maintain effective, appropriate working relationships with students, parents, and staff.


Qualifications:


  • Associates degree from an accredited college.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter schoolrelated matters.

Performance Responsibilities:


The One-to-One Aide shall:

  • Pursue the vision and execute the mission of iLearn Schools Inc.
  • Support and promote board and administrative initiatives and decisions.
  • Possess an understanding of the charter school renewal process and assist with the process as needed.
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel and outside agencies associated with the charter school.
  • Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through professional growth.
  • Adhere to federal statutes and regulations, New Jersey school law, New Jersey Department of Education rules and regulations, iLearn Schools Inc. policies, procedures and contractual obligations.
  • Take immediate action and notify appropriate personnel concerning any evidence of substance abuse, child abuse, child neglect, severe medical or social conditions, potential suicide or individuals appearing to be under the influence of alcohol, controlled substances, or anabolic steroids.
  • Follow school affirmative action procedures.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of the charter school rules and regulations.
  • Protect confidentiality of records and information about staff or students and use discretion when sharing such information within legal confines.
  • Maintain proper phone etiquette and practice discretion when communicating with parents or the community.
  • Issue electronic/paper communications that are written with appropriate language, phrases and punctuation. Use of slang or text language is not acceptable.
  • Assist in the collection of data for local, county, state or federal reports.
  • Possess and understanding of the school emergency response plan.
  • Attend school sponsored events as requested/contracted.
  • Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies, or science skills.
  • Reinforce behavior plans, when applicable, to support student's behavioral goals and expectations.
  • Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
  • Assist professional staff in the administration and correction of classroom assignments and assessments.
  • Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
  • Assist with recordkeeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
  • Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task.
  • Assist students in noninstructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, study hall, and other related noninstructional areas.
  • Accompany students on field trips for the purpose of assisting with supervision.
  • Assist teacher with parent contact as requested to foster effect
