    Description
    Moffatt & Nichol is actively seeking a Junior Level Civil Engineer to join our Norfolk office.


    This individual will assist with the planning and design on a wide variety of projects which may include site layout, site civil design, rough & precise grading, dredging, drainage design, and utility design.

    Duties and responsibilities:

    Assist and support designs and construction projects by studying project concept, architectural drawings, and models
    Assist the preparation of engineering designs by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, aerial photographs, and tests on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and related topographical and geologic data
    Create feasibility study by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data
    Prepare design documents and reports for civil site development (site layout, grading, drainage, erosion control, utilities, and other infrastructure systems)
    Perform calculations, prepare cost estimates, drawings, technical specifications, and write reports
    Assist in the production of engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules
    Perform limited field observations in support of construction and data collection
    May assist in the training of junior staff and guide designers

    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
    EIT certification (required)
    Internship or experience in site/civil or land development engineering strongly preferred
    Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
    All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST

    Working conditions:
    Majority of work is office based. Some site visits may be required which may necessitate navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
