Summary:
The Forecasting and Load Research team operates within the Corporate Strategy division to provide the long-term outlook for electricity demand as a critical input to major energy system planning decisions.
This role develops long-term forecasts of customers and energy usage for residential and commercial customers using advanced statistical forecasting methods including multiple regression and time-series analysis and a thorough understanding of economics, especially economic factors affecting the electric utility industry.
The Load Research and Forecasting Analyst will be required to track local and national economic conditions/trends and relate them to the electric utility industry and their specific impacts on SRP.
What You'll Do:
- Interpret and leverage data, trends, qualitative data, industry benchmarking and other sources of information to create and maintain SRP's Corporate Load Forecast
- Source and synthesize large amounts of data across topical areas into clean input datasets and clear conclusions
- Collaborate with customerfacing teams to collect uptodate information on business and market trends
- Work with 'big data' in cloud computing environments
- Develop and maintain broad internal and external networks to exchange information on a regular basis
- Utilize creative and targeted approaches to communicate and present information to different audiences, including executive leadership and nontechnical groups
- Represent SRP on external industry groups, community groups, and other consortia as necessary
- Perform industry benchmarking to help SRP understand how we compare to other utilities and industry best practices for load research and forecasting
- Manage and lead special projects and initiatives as necessary
What It Takes To Succeed:
- Masters degree preferred, but not required.
- Experience in statistical analysis, econometrics, data science, or forecasting techniques
- Experience in business analysis, market research, consulting, strategic planning, or related areas
- Familiarity with computer programming (VBA, SQL, Python, C++, R, Matlab, etc.)
- Project management experience preferred, but not required
- Utility and/or energy sector experience preferred, but not required
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, collaboration, timemanagement, and organization skills
- Selfmotivated with a proven ability to take the initiative with mínimal direction
- Excellent communication skills, including active listening, and the ability to adjust and tailor the communication style to the intended audience
- Excellent critical thinking, quality control, and problemsolving skills, treats sensitive data responsibly
- Has a desire for personal growth, learning, teamwork, and team improvement
Experience:
Experience in statistical analysis, econometrics, data science, or forecasting techniques and experience in business analysis, market research, consulting, strategic planning, or related areas.
Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor.
