Position Type:
Hourly, as Needed

***: Provide mentoring services in home to families of preschool students.


PRIMARY DUTIES:


  • Family support and consultation
  • Provide services in the home
  • Provide families with information in areas defined by the curriculum; ASL Language, Deaf History, Visual Communication, and Deaf Culture
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills; ability to engage with parents/families, students, and colleagues
  • American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency required

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Trained in the SKI*HI Deaf Mentor Program
  • Regents or Local High School Diploma, or GED required.
  • Experience working with deaf students

SECURITY CLEARANCE:


  • Required clearances include medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed, SCR, and SEL clearance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must have the ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time
- able to lift 15 pounds at times
