Duties:


  • You will serve as the Emerging Technology, Data and Artificial Intelligence Post-Doctoral fellow.
  • Conduct research on these topics and contribute to the development, planning, and teaching of core and elective courses in the Resident Education Program and associated curriculum.
  • Lead collaborative research teams comprised of students and faculty.
  • Courses focus on military power, theaterlevel ops, senior military leadership, military history and strategy, operational design, and evolving defense capabilities/concepts.
  • Assist a primary instructor teaching a 25 lesson Military Strategy and Campaigning course in the Resident Education Program and coteach one 10lesson elective focused on technology, data, and artificial intelligence.
  • Advise faculty on how to incorporate emerging technologies with a focus on data and artificial intelligence across the School of Strategic Landpower curriculum.

US Citizens**This is a full-time temporary appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 1 year starting on or about summer 2024, but no later than 1 August 2024.

Temporary appointments may be extended in up to 1-year increments.


Qualification Requirements:


Degree:

behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position such as political science, international relations, government, history, security studies, intelligence, etc; or
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field; or
four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In addition to meeting the Qualification Requirements above, applicants will be rated on the following:

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):Applicants will be rated on the criteria listed below:

  • Record of scholarship commensurate with the rank of assistant professor, or evidence of great potential for appropriate research and publication in areas relevant to the DMSPO curriculum, as established in paragraph (1) of duties listed above. This includes peer reviewed publications, on-line engagements, and other media.
  • Established record of teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Ability to collaborate with and develop the skills of faculty colleagues in the conceptualization, design, and preparation of lesson plans for others to teach.

Academic Accomplishment:

A master's degree in a relevant field such as political science, international relations, government, history, security studies, strategic studies, intelligence, or a related field with research focused on technology, data, and artificial intelligence with a PhD or equivalent evidence of original scholarly research and scholarship consistent with the rank of assistant professor preferred.


  • Ability and desire to work collegially with diverse (military, civilian, foreign) graduate students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
