Progressive Excavation Disturbance Zone Evolution during and Post Mine-by Tunneling (PRECODE)

The Chair of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology at RWTH Aachen University conducts research with 2 professorships and about 30 employees in the fields of rock mechanics, tunneling, and groundwater protection.

The chair is involved in numerous national and international third-party funded projects and is part of the study programs Applied Geosciences and Georesource Management.

We are a dynamic and international team of scientists focusing on experimental and numerical rock mechanics with practical applications.

Your Profile:

Hold a university degree (Master's or equivalent) in a related discipline (e.g. applied geosciences, engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, geology)
Strong knowledge of rock mechanics and hydrogeology
Willingness to conduct frequent fieldwork in the tunnel
Reliable, ambitious, and able to work independently and in a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, knowledge of German
