    Summary



    This position is located in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Southeast Network (VISN 7), VA Augusta Health Care System (VAAHCS) in Augusta, Georgia located in the Nursing Service.



    Duties


    The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center is seeking innovative Licensed Practical Nurses to become part of our Healthcare Team. Incumbents will provide nursing care to Veteran patients with consideration to psychosocial, cultural, and age specific needs. He/she will demonstrate the knowledge and ability to provide a full range of practical nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems, and knowledge of age specific differences from the adult or older population.

    This is an open continuous announcement; applicants will be reviewed and referred on a bi-weekly basis; the announcement will remain open until the positions are filled. The announcement will be used to fill Licensed Practical Nurse position for the Various Units within the Medical Center.

    Nursing Operations

    Surgery Outpatient Clinic

    Mental Health

    Spinal Cord Injury

    Community Living Center

    Ambulatory Care

    Duties include but are not limited to the following:

    • Works as part of RN/LPN care team- Administer medication according to policies and procedures.
    • Document observations, treatments, procedures, medications, etc., electronically.
    • Responds to secure messages.
    • Performs vital signs and record.
    • Competence with EKG, taking blood for glucometer, obtain lab specimen, screening of patients as needed, simple dressing change.
    • Assist Providers with procedures.
    • Conducts non-complex phone calls backs/follow-ups.
    • May be assigned to cross cover in other clinical areas within his/her competency level. Stocking of rooms, ordering of supplies, maintains and uses oxygen equipment.
    • Promote Customer Service
    • Administrative duties
    Work Schedule: TOD will vary on the applicable duty location and/or position selected for. Work schedule will be determined by the department needs and availability.
