ORGANIZATION MISSION
The mission of the Reginald F. Lewis Museum is to document, interpret and preserve the complex experiences, contributions, and culture of Black people.
We serve as a catalyst for sustained change by providing programs and exhibitions and bold conversations that educate and challenge.
***The Coordinator of Visitor Services is also responsible for coordinating various aspects of the volunteer program and customer service for the purpose of building museum exhibition and program attendance, revenue, and visibility. The Visitor Services Coordinator will provide front-of-house leadership and operational support, ensuring smooth retail operations and an exceptional visitor experience.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Visitor Services:
- Work with Visitor Services Manager to supervise, train and schedule parttime Welcome Desk Associates, Museum Shop Associates and Visitor Services volunteers
- With security personnel, circulate throughout the museum to monitor public spaces, respond to visitor questions, and implement visitor guidelines
- With Visitor Services Manager, reconcile cash drawers at end of day, prepare daily reports and deposits for Finance department
- With Visitor Services Manager, supply cash drawers, setup Welcome Desk and restock Museum Store at beginning of each week
- Be first to respond to problems faced by frontline staff and visitors by contacting other museum staff members, security, etc. as appropriate
- Answer phones and handle general inquiries
- Assist the Visitor Services Manager with tasks associated with the Museum Store, including unpacking, and receiving shipments, merchandise display and inventory replenishment
- Provide secondary staff support at the Welcome Desk and in the Museum Store, assisting with sales at the POS during high volume periods and staff breaks
- Greet and help orient museum visitors alongside frontline staff and volunteers
- Implement and help shape Visitor Services policies and procedures
- Clean and tidy up Visitor Services and Museum Store areas as needed
- Be knowledgeable of and actively promote the museum's membership program, exhibitions, and programming
- Track visitor comments and questions to provide regular feedback for other museum staff on how visitors are responding to the building, collection, and special exhibitions
- Help facilitate visitor surveys and evaluation as needed
- Assist with special events as needed

Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other database programs.

Accounting and order processing skills a plus.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree and 2 years administrative experience.
- Museum experience or knowledge of history is highly desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with a variety of people, professional demeanor.

$ $25.00 per hour
