We are looking for a
Child Protection Officer (m/f/d) for the departments of Children, Youth and Family and Child Day Care in Tinley Park, IL, starting on October 1st, 2023.

This position is 32 hours per week and is permanent.


Responsibilities:


  • Conducting risk assessments, quality assurance, and consultations
  • Implementation and review of participation and complaint procedures in residential child and youth services
  • Point of contact and advisor for children, youth, parents, and employees
  • Development, evaluation, and updating of preventive and intervention concepts and measures
  • Organization, implementation, and followup of annual children's camps on topics of participation, democracy education, and children's rights

Requirements:


  • Degree in social pedagogy or a comparable qualification
  • Additional qualification as a child protection specialist desired
  • Experience working with children, youth, and families
  • Practical experience in risk assessment and risk management in child protection, as well as confidence in making risk assessments
  • Knowledge of legal foundations of child protection
  • Knowledge and experience in counseling work
  • Professional distance and ability to reflect and make judgments
  • Ability to handle conflict situations, even under pressure, and decisionmaking skills in acute crisis situations
  • Enjoyment in implementing group activities
  • Good communication skills, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Independent and responsible completion of assigned tasks
  • Willingness to work flexible and as needed
