Job Summary:
The Department of Radiology is seeking a Pre-Award Sponsored Programs, Grants & Contracts Manager to manage the pre-award operations for the department.
Radiology most recently submitted 70+ extramural grants, and overall nearly 150 funding requests per year for roughly four dozen researchers.
The Manager position will provide support for all pre-award functions including working with researchers to identify funding opportunities, budget creation, assisting with the administrative and financial requirements of funding opportunities, and helping researchers navigate the processes and requirements to accept project funding.
The Pre-Award Manager also provide periodic reports to departmental leadership, along with operational and strategic improvement recommendations.Responsibilities:
Manages research administration activities or personnel related to pre-award functions including budget preparation, proposal submission, agreement negotiation, and/or project setup.
Develops and oversees implementation of operations and strategic planning to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements within a unit. May manage a programmatic unit and/or personnel.- 10% Develops, implements, and evaluates preaward research administration operational policies and procedures including financial, administrative, staffing, and compliance
- 50% Works with researchers and prepares budgets, proposal submissions, agreements, or other agreements for sponsor consideration
- 5% May supervise activities of research administration staff
- 10% Serves as a key resource to leadership and staff in the unit as well as a liaison to partners and stakeholders
- 15% May review and negotiate agreements on behalf of the unit
- 5% May be responsible for new account setup
- 5% Department research reporting, including grant submission reports, grants database management, FAF, and adhoc reports as requested

Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of 4 years experience working with research administration processes
Preferred:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with managing preaward requirements for federal and other grant funding agencies
- Demonstrated experience with negotiating grants and contracts from extramural sponsors
- Demonstrated experience with, and ability to understand, medical terminology and determine appropriate procedure codes (e.g., CPT codes)
- Experience with supervising and performance management of direct reports
- Knowledge of UW-Madison policies, procedures, and regulations

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Minimum $77,450 ANNUAL (12 months)
