RESPONSIBILITIESLearn about UTM and how our business is run by spending time on the production floor with supervisors, QC and the workforceAnalyze and design sequence of operations and workflow to improve efficienciesSupport and optimize fabrication production by reducing planned and unplanned downtimeSupport facility layout and design, equipment relocation, and layout optimization projectsComplete 5S events and audits showing improvement in manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly areasReview and audit Operation Summary Sheets (OSS) to standardize processes across production and between shiftsSpend a minimum 40% of time on the plant floor working and communicating with plant personnelQUALIFICATIONSCurrently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering program or related field in the Enterprise, Alabama areaAbility to work 10 weeks during the summer break and potentially 20 hours +/- during school yearFlexibility to work multiple shiftsProficiency in a Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) softwareEffective and professional interpersonal, communication, and organization skillsBasic statistical knowledge and ability to apply statistics to process improvement projectsAbility to exercise influence without authority and make decisionsMechanical ability or background is preferred for working directly with manufacturing and fabrication tools, jigs, and equipmentCAD Skills (3D and/or 2D) are preferredU.S.
