Knowledge and Experience:


  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in bus transit. (preferably) Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
  • Must be able to work shift hours and days assigned.
  • Must have the ability to secure and maintain a Class B ("P" endorsement" Commercial Driver's License),
  • Assures that all required service levels are met.
  • Initiates diversion or control in the event of service disruption.
  • Ensures that Operators are performing assigned duties correctly and safely and that they meet all job related specifications.
  • Liaise with clients, peace officers in regards to emergencies when necessary,
  • Reports to Management any emergency and it's severity as required.
  • Monitors service through visual time checks and provides corrective action when necessary
  • Prepares and documents daily reports for service irregularities.
  • Maintains accurate daily record of calls taken and person(s) transported,
  • Maintains accurate notebook for recall of events.
  • Assumes any and all other duties assigned.

Key Accountabilities:


  • Ensure operator safety, customer satisfaction and ontime performance
  • Monitor and document daily service operation (customer service, safety and ontime performance)
  • Remain fully knowledgeable of Foothill Transit's service area, routes and fares, Foothill
  • Transit's and Keolis' Operational Policies and Procedures, Daily Bulletins, and Detours
  • Coordinate with Dispatch and Controller of all service adjustments to maintain frequency or return buses to their scheduled departure
  • Assist customers; interact with local officials and the public
  • Investigate all mechanical failures, complaints, and incidents that occur on or near company equipment or involve company employees
  • Respond to and investigate accidents in accordance with locations required policies
  • Perform road/ride checks and road observations on a regular basis
  • Communicate with the Maintenance Department as needed to ensure proper response to road calls
  • Manage service via Zonar and DCS
  • Transport passengers using support vehicles as may be required
  • Participate in the development of positive labor management relations
  • Report problems with any aspect of the operation to Management
  • Ensure all Safety Policies and procedures are followed at all times
  • Manage and confirm daily sign outs to ensure all reports are made and dispatched
  • Greet and witness operators signing on for duty, assign vehicles to individual Operators, and provide them with key information to operate their route (changes, special conditions, or detours)
  • Ensure availability of paddles and public schedules and utilization by Operators
  • Manage the daily Extra Board assignments in accordance with the provisions of the Labor
  • Agreement and practice; including posting of extra work/day off boards and assigning work
  • Use standby Operators effectively to ensure ontime performance
  • Ensure Operators are fit for duty and are in uniform
  • Ensure all work is properly covered in an efficient manner
  • Develop systems and procedures to reduce overtime
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
