Do you want to be part of helping reduce food waste within our environment? Our Sustainable Journey is looking for independent contract drivers to help with the food scrap collection side of our company.

Our Sustainable Journey is a small family owned sustainability company with the goal to reduce our carbon footprint and help support others as they seek to be more sustainable. We provide food scrap composting within the Western Chicago Suburbs, fresh pasture-raised egg and meat deliveries, and local raw honey.

We are currently looking to expand our food scrap collection services, but need help with the collection of our customer food scrap buckets to make this happen.

The driver is a critical role for the food scrap & composting portion of our business. The position entails driving to food scrap customer's homes (route will be provided in advance) and swapping their sealed 5-gallon bucket with a fresh bucket. The driver will start at a central location to pick up empty buckets. When the route is complete the driver will bring the filled buckets back to the central location, so they can be picked up by the transporter to be brought back to the farm for composting.

Responsibilities

Pick up clean buckets before route:

Follow route provided to pick up filled buckets from customers and leave empty bucket at each customer's home or business:

Deliver filled buckets to central location:

Notify the transporter when buckets have been delivered

Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pound buckets:

Own a vehicle that can carry a minimum of 20, 5-gallon buckets (or own a trailer and vehicle that can pull the trailer to hold the 5-gallon buckets):

Clean driving record:

Up to date auto insurance on vehicle to be used for routes

Driver will be paid an hourly rate of $15/hour, as well as reimbursed for mileage (at current Federal mileage rate) while in route and from/to drop off location.
