    Director of Clinical Training and Open Rank Professor, Clinical Psychology

    The Opportunity

    The Illinois School of Professional Psychology (ISPP) at National Louis University (NLU) located in Chicago, IL seeks exceptional practitioner-scholar applicants for Full-Time Director of Clinical Training, Clinical Psychology, a core administrative faculty position within our APA-Accredited Clinical Psychology doctoral program.

    Successful candidates will join a cohesive faculty of outstanding practitioner-scholars who share a commitment and passion to training future health-service psychologists and providing psychological services in a diverse community. This is a 75% administrative/25% teaching, twelve-month, full-time position with assigned professional responsibilities for administration, teaching, scholarship and service.

    Ideal applicants will be licensed clinical psychologists with experience providing supervision or clinical training administration to graduate level psychology students within an academic or clinical training setting. Ideal applicants will also have the ability to teach doctorate-level courses in one or more of the following primary areas:

  • Psychological Assessment: cognitive assessment, personality assessment, integrative assessment
  • Human Health and Dysfunction
  • Diversity and Multicultural Theory and Practice
  • Cognitive Behavioral Theory and Therapy
  • Family Theory and Therapy
  • Group Theory and Therapy
  • Qualitative Research Methods
  • Statistics
  • Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordination and oversight of all Practicum and Internship processes:
  • Oversee the coordination of the practicum and internship placements to assist students in establishing appropriate practicum and internship arrangementsSupport students in the internship and practicum placement process including reviewing CVs, cover letters, essays, and discussing appropriate fit with training sitesManage problems related to training with sites and/or studentsConduct site visits to active and potential field placements sites as requiredDevelop new training site relationships as neededMaintain records of Practicum/internship placement sitesCoordinate creation of forms and databases with TEVERAProvide verification of hours documentation as requested to licensure boardsProvide ongoing support and communications with site supervisorsMonitor and make changes as needed to the practicum seminar course shells in the LMS
  • Supervise the Associate Director of Training (ADOT) and delegate responsibilities to the ADOT as appropriate
  • Participate in regular Association of Chicagoland Externship and Practicum Training (ACEPT) meetings
  • Teach 6 credits per year; develop syllabi and teaching materials related to courses taught
  • Engage in academic advising for assigned advisees
  • Supervise doctoral dissertations and serve on dissertation committees
  • Participate in program assessment, student learning assessment, curriculum review, academic admissions processes, and other program activities
  • Participate in scholarly pursuits
  • Hold active membership in departmental and campus-wide governance committees
  • Qualifications

  • PhD/PsyD from an APA-Accredited program
  • License-eligibility in Illinois psychology licensure within the first year of employment is required
  • Passion for teaching and experience in graduate clinical education and training
  • Strong ability to mentor graduate students, particularly non-traditional students
  • Adherence to the highest level of professional conduct and ethical standards
  • Graduate and post-graduate experience working with diverse client populations
  • Demonstrated participation in scholarly and/or professional activities
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning
  • Professional experience in APA-Accredited practitioner-scholar programs a plus
