So, what's the role?stand up our Project Management Organization. You will assist in building our processes and procedures to effectively intake, prioritize, manage, and monitor project requests. You will assist in the project management of multiple projects with a variety of teams. This encompasses developing timelines, setting expectations, communicating effectively, managing risks, creating project retrospectives, and leading cross functional teams.
You should be able to solve — or connect to people who can solve — and plan to mitigate any problem that impacts the projects that you oversee.
Risk management is a key in this role; risks include a project timeline slipping, changing requirements, or the discovery of additional stakeholders.
Some examples of projects you may work on in this role are supporting roadmap planning, coordinating and tracking progress of all insurance product and market management related projects, managing risks and ensuring clear, consistent communication during the project lifecycle.
Working with team members and various stakeholders to drive efficient project work across the organization.
Driving continuous improvements on insurance related processes.
Conducting discovery sessions with a variety of business partners, including Legal/Compliance, Underwriting, Product, and Actuarial Sciences to understand how work is completed today.
Documenting and tracking a backlog of projects and assisting in prioritization of projects and resources across teams.Communicating prioritization as well as status updates and identified risks on projects to stakeholders and team members.
Monitoring progress and delays of projects while attaining and redirecting resources when applicable.
Ensuring timelines are up to date and roadblocks are addressed and communicated to key stakeholders.
Proactively identifying and implementing process improvements to solve issues and increase the productivity of the Insurance Team.
Proactively and diplomatically driving issue resolution. Able to navigate parties to the best solution for Kin and our customers when conflicts arise.
Coordinating and leading regular team and stakeholder meetings to both gather feedback on your projects and to share important updates.
Providing input into strategy and roadmapping including OKRs and department level updates.I've got the skills... but do I have the necessary ones?
5-7 years of working experience in a project coordination, project management, or portfolio management capacity.
Possesses a well-rounded understanding of insurance products (homeowner's preferred).
Experience leading large cross-departmental projects.
A proven track record of owning process management or process improvement projects.
Outstanding risk management skills with ability to communicate through complex issues effectively.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to quantify the value add of projects.
Comfort using project/task-management tools like Asana and Jira.
Ability to engage in conflict management and communicate with empathy and clarity.
Bonus Points:
Experience in the Insurance P&C industry
Experience with JIRA
Experience working in startup and/or rapid-growth environments
Certifications like CSM, PMP, etc.
Agile methodologies (Kanban/Scrum)
