JOB DESCRIPTION
Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation's largest organization exclusively representing the Black College Community.

TMCF member-schools include the publicly supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Historically Black Community Colleges(HBCCs), and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs).

The Scholarship Coordinator is a dynamic role, requiring a blend of administrative, interpersonal, and financial management skills.

Serving on the front lines of customer service and reporting to the Senior Manager of Scholarships, this position supports the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Scholarship Division by assisting with administrative tasks, financial processing, and communication, ensuring efficient fulfillment of team objectives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Assistant Vice President of Scholarships, Directors, and Scholarships Managers in daytoday scholarship administration.
  • Aid Scholarship Managers in maintaining the accuracy and promptness of scholarship disbursements through financial report coordination, payment and mailing tracking, and distribution of scholarship disbursements.
  • Work closely with Thurgood Marshall College Fund Finance and Operations Divisions to process physical disbursements and fund transfers accurately.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, tracking budgets, and reconciling scholarship funds.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to streamline workflow and accomplish team objectives.
  • Assist in crossfunctional TMCF projects or initiatives pertaining to scholarships.
  • Execute additional tasks as delegated.
  • Other duties

SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job demands.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee data, business activities, key information, etc.
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 35 years of experience working in administrative, financial processing, or operations roles
  • Knowledge of university and/or nonprofit organizations
  • Advanced computer skills and technology experience, including with Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite
  • Excellent communication skills that demonstrate a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively
  • Ability to think creatively and pragmatically to develop viable solutions for the scholarship team and our external customers
