About Alternative Family Services
Alternative Family Services is a Foster Family, Adoption and Mental Health Agency that has been serving abused and neglected children in our community since 1973.
Responsibilities
- Train and supervise foster parents
- Oversee the placement of youth in foster homes through regular visits in homes and meeting individually with the child
- Develop and update a treatment plan for each child on a quarterly basis
- Act as a liaison between AFS and other community based services needed by the foster child
- Maintain current case notes and other documentation
- Identify and utilize community resources
- Crisis intervention and management
- Be available for emergencies with assigned caseload
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work or related field that meets educational requirements as required by California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22; or be granted an exception by California Community Care Licensing (CCL)
- Ability to obtain fingerprint and government required background clearances
- Ability to work successfully and collaboratively in complex family systems
- 12 years experience working with children and families
- Proven track record of working successfully with diverse cultural populations
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
Driving Requirements
This position requires the employee to work out in the community and within foster homes throughout the Bay Area.
Thus, position requires employee to possess a valid CA driver's license and valid automobile insurance with his/her name on the verification card as an insured driver on the policy at all times.
Position requires daily access to a car in safe working order.We Offer

- Spanish fluency stipend $2,500
