The Regional Financial Controller will contribute as a member of the Regional Leadership Team focused on the successful running of the Region and is responsible for all accounting and financial management activities within Tait America Region.

The Regional Financial Controller is required to work closely with the New Zealand based Corporate Finance team where the accounting and finance function is being supported.


This position works closely with the Regional Leadership Team to provide strategic financial input and leadership on key decisions impacting the organization.

It provides expertise in financial reporting, controlling and assisting the President in managing the performance of the organization.


The financial accountabilities include ensuring that the accounting standards and policies are appropriate to and enacted upon by all parts of the Region; that the financial interests of the Region are managed within acceptable accounting principles and with due cognizance of the relevant local and international commercial laws.

Responsibility also includes financial forecast, planning and analysis and effectively monitoring and controlling the financial performance for the Region and providing accurate reporting within the agreed timetable to the Regional Leadership and Group Finance teams.


As a member of the Regional Leadership Team he/she will be responsible for implementing agreed business strategies and processes, providing technical advice to regional management and for making a major contribution to the successful running of the Region in strategic as well as operational matters.


Functional Outcomes

Regional Financial Forecast, Planning and Analysis

  • Responsible for the completion of regional financial forecasts (including the Annual Plan) to reflect the changes in business structure and company strategy.
  • Ensuring the alignment of strategic objectives within the Region.
  • Provision of financial analysis and commentary relating to regional financial performance, forecast and strategic investments.
  • Responsible for regional order and sales forecasting process including key risk identification, monitoring and regular update.

Opportunity Bid and Contract Review

  • Working with the Bid Manager and review team to ensure the Bid & Contract review process is implemented.
  • Participate as a member of the Bid & Contract review team to maximize opportunities by minimizing risks and maximizing margins.
  • Responsible for the provision of financing solution or options.
  • Responsible for financial inputs for tenders and bid reviews.
  • Working with the Legal Counsel to ensure all risks are registered and managed with appropriate insurances in place.

Project (or Contract) Financial Management and Control

  • Responsible for the financial deliverables for any signed Contract/Project;
- ensuring that invoicing is done in a timely fashion by the project team.
- ensuring all project is set up with right sales tax.
- all project costs are monitored and controlled according to the budget.
- all retentions, bid and performance bonds are in place and released according to contract.

  • Work with project managers to prepare project financial forecast.
  • Quantify financial risk and provide timely financial reporting.
  • Recognize all revenue and costs according to Group Policy Framework1 and GAAP.
  • Reconcile milestone billing and revenue recognition invoicing and ensure any FX exposure is managed.

Regional Accounting, Tax, Finance and Audit

  • This function is primarily being carried out by the Corporate Finance team. The Financial Controller will be responsible for providing oversight to ensure that the Region's finances and those of associated companies are well managed and operated within the Group policy framework. This includes accounts payable, credit control, payroll, treasury, month end close and year end close and audit.
  • Ensure that the companies in the Region meet all their legal and statutory obligations including all the accounting requirements of all relevant tax laws and any external financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure the company's risk is managed in accordance with Group policy and guidance for all insurance matters.

Regional Financial Performance reporting and internal control

  • Maintain the Regional Delegated Authority Framework aligning with Group Delegated Authority Framework.
  • Ensure key internal controls are in place and effective.
  • Responsible to effectively set, monitor, and control expenditures within approved budget.
  • Responsible for all Financial Performance / KPI reports for the Region.

Recruitment, employee development and performance management

  • Participate in the recruitment and induction process of Regional finance personnel.
  • Develop and grow or change the regional finance team to align with changes to the Group's business strategy.

Qualification and Experience Requirement

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Accounting
  • CPA qualified
  • A minimum
