    OVERALL DESCRIPTION:
  • The position of the Director of Student Services was established for the purpose of providing leadership in the implementation of the district vision, mission, and values as it relates to the delivery of services for diverse learners and provides for high quality instruction to close the achievement gap

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Maintains an unwavering priority of establishing and fostering an environment that presumes competence and tends to the whole child.
  • Supports building level leadership in the development and implementation of IEPs which provide educational benefit:
  • Provides guidance on how to connect the 6 big ideas of IDEA into improved student learning outcomes;
  • Support and guide teams in managing complex IDEA issues;
  • Ensures core standards drive IEP goals and services;
  • Engages in problem solving with building level teams to help remove barriers to inclusive practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of current research and evidencebased practices in delivering comprehensive services to diverse learners;
  • Creates and maintains a resultsfocused learning environment based on established datadriven goals that promotes high expectations for every student and adult.
  • Provide leadership and management of the service delivery and SEL blueprints;
  • Use data to assess and monitor system performance on a consistent basis to ensure viable support for students and staff.
  • Assess, identify and analyze needs and recommend staffing patterns to support the implementation of the vision;
  • Provide leadership, and coordination of services through the supervision and professional growth of supervisors and coordinators within the department;
  • Coordinates new student enrollment for diverse learners with IEP and 504 plans;
  • Provides leadership in the development and implementation of professional learning plans for student services staff;
  • Oversee coordination of specialized transportation and problem solve as needs arise;
  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and program review of ESY services;
  • Evaluate staff (certified and/or noncertified) for the purpose of complying with District and State evaluation procedures as well as for the purpose of improving instruction and/or services for students
  • Collaborate with families to provide high quality services to students

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with Administrative Endorsement required.
  • An earned Master's Degree in Special Education or other related field.
  • At least five years teaching or related service experience in an educational setting required
  • A minimum of two years administrative experience preferred
  • Director of Special Education endorsement preferred

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:


  • 260 day contract, salary and fringe benefits as established annually by the Board of Education

Starting Salary:

- $108,000 annually or higher commensurate with equivalent work experience
