Responsibilities:


The Manager, Health Informatics and Data Exchange will manage dental data exchange activities in response to ADA priorities and federal policy setting.

Manage activities related to dental clinical and administrative data exchange implementation within the activities of the Practice Institute.

Serve as a liaison to the ADA Standards Program, providing guidance on issues related to administrative transactions, and clinical data interchange.

Liaisons with electronic dental system vendors, government agencies, dental organizations and appropriate standards developing organizations. Create technical content for dental informatics publications and training.


Must Have:


  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare related field, such as policy analysis, public administration, healthcare informatics
  • Minimum of 5 years of working in health informatics or dental informatics
  • Knowledge of electronic data interchange and standards development and an understanding of legislative regulatory implications for dental issues of importance to members and the ADA
  • Experience in project planning and project management, writing reports, facilitating interdivisional staff and volunteer groups and working across crossfunctional teams
  • Strong background in communication, education, or presentations
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of federal regulations (e.g., HIPAA) pertaining to administrative simplification and efficiencies
  • Exposure to EDI analysis or related field, with a focus on healthcare or dental insurance
  • Ability to address multiple concurrent activities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Some evening work
  • Travel is required to participate in offsite meetings and conferences

Nice to Have:


  • Experience working in a dental office or dental arena
  • Knowledge of dental data exchange challenges, medical/dental collaboration models
  • Knowledge of healthcare standards development, health care code sets, especially the CDT Code, ICD10CM and SNOMED/SNODENT.
