About Lycée International de Houston:


The Lycée International de Houston, LIH, was established in 2017 by passionate individuals from different cultural backgrounds and founders who recognized the need for a bilingual school in the Houston community.

Their goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to thrive in an ever-growing multicultural global society.

As the sole accredited 18-month through 12th-grade bilingual school in Houston, the Lycée International de Houston offers a unique dual-language immersion program in both French and English.

By combining the analytical thinking methods of the French Ministry of Education (AEFE) with the dynamic American Curriculum, the school remains dedicated to maintaining academic excellence.

The Lycée International de Houston has obtained accreditations by esteemed organizations such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization, the French Ministry of Education, and Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools (TAAPS).

Additionally, our school is affiliated with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).


The position:


Minimum Requirements:


  • BA or equivalent in Education (preferred)
  • International and/or independent school experience
  • Three years' experience teaching French in an Elementary School K5 (preferred)
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the French National Educational Curriculum
  • Native French proficiency
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Positivity, openmindedness, and adaptability to a multicultural environment
  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and diverse language and cultural backgrounds.
  • Work Authorization in the United States

Responsibilities:


  • Teaching skills for multicultural school environment.
  • Communicate students' progress with students and family on a weekly basis.
  • High level of energy, creativity, and commitment.
  • Effective facilitation and use technology as a communication and educational online learning software's and platforms to improve students' achievements and manage work teaching related tasks.
  • Great classroom management skills.
  • Ability to develop a great learning environment, and positive relationships with students, parents, and coworkers.
  • Demonstrate professional respectfulness in collaboration with other primary teachers in the same grade level and all staff.
  • Ability to differentiate EAL and/or FLE students.
  • Experienced with creating and implementing lesson plans according to school curriculum assessing and evaluating students as necessary.
  • Effectively teaching the French Program curriculum and following school guidelines including creating appropriate lesson preparation and evaluating students appropriately.
  • Collaborate in events, duties and other school activities like open houses, parents' meetings, field trips, fairs, exhibitions, and festivals.
  • Additional responsibilities may include teacher weekly duties such as, for example, carpool, recesses, lunch duty, and afterschool Study Hall FLE/Homework support.
  • Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and meet students' needs as required.
  • Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and adequately facilitate small and large group instruction.
  • Minimum of 40+ hours spent at school per week.

Working Conditions:

Standing for long periods of time. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing, relocating stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. The level of mobility required depends upon the grade level of teaching assignments(s) and requirements.
