The Project Engineer (PE) is the horsepower behind the process and timely information flow. Understanding the urgency and accuracy of information is critical to providing great service to the field. The PE takes complete ownership in all aspects of his/her area of influence whether or not directly responsible for a particular task. In order to function at the highest level, the PE must have a "whatever-it-takes" attitude and a "servant" mindset to achieve superior results in alignment with the best interest of the team and the Project Performance Objectives.

The Project Engineer primarily serves the Production and Preconstruction Process. Effective communication with the owner, architect, inspector, building department, and subcontractors is essential. The Project Engineer is required to achieve superior results in seven project management objectives (Client Satisfaction, Company Contribution, Gross Profit, Quality, Safety, Schedule, and Team Development). The roles and performance expectations listed below represent the majority of responsibilities a PE will be engaged in on a project. Other technical applications will be required from time to time and all divisions of focus of work will be coordinated by the PM, Super and/or Senior Project Engineer.

c. SWPPP monitoring & compliance

3. Project Closeout

a. Register development and management

b. O&M's, warranties, as-builts, extra stock collection compliance

c. Commissioning, testing, agency sign-off

d. Owner training & instruction

e. Archiving

Field Expeditiously clearing out obstacles

1. Procurement & coordination with the project schedule

a. Log development and management

2. Quality Control

a. Material procurement matches submittal

b. Workmanship compliance and monitoring

c. CDA / BIM

d. Work to complete and punch list development and management

3. Field Resolution

a. Assemble conflict resolution

b. Effective RFIs with suggested solutions

c. Hold the design team accountable for timely responses

4. Supervision Support

a. Conducts preparatory meetings

b. Active participant in Foreman meetings

c. Subcontractor installation coordination

d. Material delivery coordination

e. Coordination with IOR and inspection request process management

f. Interim field supervision as needed and Daily Journal compliance

b. Preconstruction CPM schedule input/development

2. Budgeting

a. Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Drawings estimating and pricing

b. Conducting post bid evaluation with trades for historic cost updating

3. Coordination

a. Constructability review and implementation into design plans

b. Walks site and implements differences into design plans

c. Reviews and understand ancillary documents/reports EG, Soils, Hazardous, and SWPPP reports

d. Permitting coordination with local and state agencies

4. Bidding

a. Scope development

b. Core document understanding, development, and assembly

c. Prebid RFI management and Addendum integration

d. Post bid scope evaluation

Recommended Computer Skills:

CMiC Manager, Primavera P6, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Recommended Education:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction or Civil Engineering or equivalent (Construction preferred)
Continuing education in Safety and First Aid

Physical Demands:

This is a field and/or office position with work occurring on one or multiple sites at a time. Working from the job site and/or visiting multiple projects is required. Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noise. Includes climbing, accessing high places, carrying and being in proximity to moving mechanical parts. Requires frequent bending, reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking and lifting 20 lbs. or more.
