Assistant Director of Clinical Transformation

Position Summary


Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer
, the Assistant Director will perform all informatics functions with electronic medical record and informatics solutions.

The purpose of this position is to develop, implement, and evaluate information technology needed to enhance the clinical practice environment.

The incumbent is responsible for leading clinical transformation by engaging the correct stakeholders on both the operational and information technology side to coordinate change through a data driven and evidence-based approach at a system level.


Duties of an Assistant Director of Clinical Transformation may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Lead ongoing workflow analysis and process improvement initiatives through all clinical and operational aspects of the hospital and ambulatory setting.
  • Understand, analyze, and reinforce the use of data and reporting in daily routines and to support decision making.
  • Supervision and oversight for Clinical Transformation Informatics Analysts.
  • Lead and facilitate the change management process to support system level standardization transformations.
  • Manage informatics projects from start to completion and ensures tasks are appropriately assigned and completed by the deadlines agreed upon.
  • Work closely with the clinical operational teams to prioritize and determine needs for process change or educational focus to improve patient safety or meet regulatory needs.
  • Support clinical and operational workflows with informatics solutions throughout the hospital and ambulatory settings by troubleshooting, reinforcing workflow and educating to the functionality.
  • Collaborate with the staff to identify systems issues that impact the care delivery system.
  • Facilitate an interdisciplinary approach with the team to meet technology needs in the division.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in identifying and resolving informatics related issues.
  • Participate in the evaluation, selection and integration of new and improved technology to improve clinical workflow and patient outcomes.
  • Responsible for the management of clinical enhancement requests and associated data analytics.
  • Manage and coordinate the onboarding process for the Clinical Transformation analysts.
  • Continually assess informatics analysts learning needs and competence in the use of technology and information informatics best practices.
  • Remain current with trends in informatics and provides the staff with the resources and environment conducive to learning.
  • Demonstrate professional responsibility to share knowledge by sharing knowledge with colleagues by presenting at conferences or publication.
  • Facilitate change and fosters a positive image of Clinical Transformation.
  • Demonstrate excellent team building and collaboration skills with colleagues.
  • Continuously strive to increase core knowledge and role competency through leadership development activities.
  • Promote a culture of daytoday recognition and creates an environment where everyone understands the value of recognizing each other on any given day (for both big and small contributions).

Qualifications

Required:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Allied Health Professional or informatics related.
  • Five (5) years full time informatics experience.
  • Two (2) years tertiary care center experience.
  • Two (2) years project leadership experience.
  • Five (5) years bedside clinical experience.
  • Informatics Certification (ANCC or HIMSS).
  • Knowledge of process improvement, workflow design/analysis, and project management tools.
  • Analytic and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to lead/facilitate meetings and present content to various leadership forums.
  • Understand overall hospital and ambulatory operation processes from front end registration through clinical care and billing to consider implications of changes at a systemwide level.

Preferred:


  • Master's degree in informatics, computer science, Nursing or other clinical bedside specialty (i.e. pharmacy, PT, OT, RT).
  • Registered Nurse.
  • Cerner experience.
