Job Summary


The Manufacturing and Materials Research Laboratories (MMRL) at Purdue features state-of-the-art experimental facilities for physical domain manufacturing that will increase collaboration with industries and foundations, accelerate tech commercialization in manufacturing and attract top talent.


As one of the first offshoots of Purdue's new eXcellence in Manufacturing and Operations (XMO) initiative, MMRL will focus on manufacturing research and experimentation.

Together MMRL and XMO are vital components of a renaissance in U.S.

manufacturing, logistics and supply chains - part of our nation's fresh commitment to revitalizing its industrial legacy, by linking physical, digital and sustainable manufacturing into a resilient, sustainable ecosystem that ensures jobs and national security.


he MMRL Director of Industry Partnerships and Tech Transfer will be responsible for business development with industries, integration of faculty, staff and students in these collaboration as well as developing and implementing process for technology transfer.

This position is responsible for meeting strategic objectives for the organization especially integrating operations of MMRL in West Lafayette and Indianapolis.

Administratively, this position will support the MMRL team's efforts to grow annual industrial grant funding and meet operational targets.


This position will be partly remote with travel

Duties and Responsibilities

Attracting industries: Through various connections, shows and experience map and attract strategic industrial collaborations. Also, this will include coordination with various Purdue and professional organizations such as Office of Industry Partnership (OIP) and SME. Alignment of faculty expertise and facilities with industries will be necessary. This role will also include developing metric for measuring progress and recommendation for betterment of this responsibility.

Managing collaborations for technology transfer: Planning of the projects in collaboration with participants, periodically tracking milestones and industry meets, developing "demonstrations for success" and advisement on management of intellectual property (IP) from the collaboration is part of this responsibility. This role will also include developing metric for measuring progress and recommendation for betterment of this responsibility.

Develop proposals with industries for private and public-private funding: Identifying, developing, and submitting successful proposals with industries in public-private partnerships will be required for part of this role. Developing state and federal relations along with industries are desired for this responsibility. This role will also include developing metric for measuring progress and recommendation for betterment of this responsibility.


Education and Experience

_Required:
_


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Four (4) years of experience in technical and management, including project planning and execution, including work with industries.
  • Management of time bound projects for successful delivery.
  • Knowledge of government request for proposals and develop successful proposals

Skills

  • Interpersonal skills with ability to communicate in various ways including presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and reports.
  • Planning and working in hybrid academic and industry settings
