Job Title: Technical Writer

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid)

Duration: 12-month Contract

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to join our team in Austin, TX, on a 12-month contract. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, particularly in API documentation and Java web applications.

Responsibilities:

Develop, organize, and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including API documentation, user guides, and system manuals.
Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure documentation accuracy.
Understand and explain complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner.
Work with engineering teams to document new features, APIs, and other technical components.
Ensure all documentation is consistent, up-to-date, and adheres to company standards.
Review and edit content created by other team members for clarity, coherence, and correctness.

Must-Have Skills:

Experience in API Documentation: Proven experience in writing and maintaining API documentation, including knowledge of RESTful APIs and related tools.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of technical concepts, particularly related to Java web applications.
Attention to Detail: Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
Communication: Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills:

Familiarity with documentation tools such as Swagger, Postman, or similar.
Experience with content management systems and version control tools.
Knowledge of software development lifecycle and methodologies.
Previous experience in a similar role within the tech industry.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technical Communication, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
