- Develops lesson plans that are both challenging and age-appropriate
- Supervise students and ensure their safety at all times
- Track students' attendance & evaluate students' progress
- Provide necessary feedback to the Swim Lessons Coordinator
- Maintain safe swim swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas
- Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures
- $14.69/hour
- Flexible shifts available:
- Monday & Wednesday: 9:00am-11:30am or 1:30pm-4:00pm
- Tuesday & Thursday: 9:00am-11:30am or 1:30pm-4:00pm
- Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays: 4:00pm-7:00pm
- Pick & choose from the above hours to get as many hours as you'd like Must be able to work a minimum of 3 hours/week.
- Part-time employees begin accruing Sick Leave immediately upon hire and Paid Time Off (PTO) after one year of employment
- All employees receive a free YMCA membership
- At least 15 years old
- Within 90 days of hire: CPR & First Aid Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant (may not be an online course)
- Within 6 months of hire: YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor Training

Job DescriptionYMCA Swim School takes a safety-first approach, focusing on small class sizes, boosting confidence in the water, building student/instructor relationships, and allowing each student to progress at their own pace. Our lessons develop aquatic readiness, engage in underwater exploration, and teach children important water safety skills.
The YMCA provides weekly lap swims, open swims, swim lessons, water exercise classes, and adaptive swim time. Each year, over 5,000 youth learn the vital skill of swimming. The Fercho YMCA pool has been the home of the FM Gators swim team for over 50 years.
