Research Fellow, PGY0 - Meniere's disease
***: We study the underlying causes of vestibular disorders, specifically Meniere's disease, on the molecular level, using whole genome sequencing in clinical patients, histological and molecular analysis of human pathology specimens, as well as animal models. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be involved in all aspects of biostatistical genome analysis, microscopy, histology, immunohistochemistry, machine learning, data analyses, and presenting and writing manuscripts.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Read, analyze and summarize published literature
  • Human genomic data analysis
  • Animal husbandry
  • Histological processing of animal tissue samples
  • Design and execution of human and animal tissue analysis, including immunohistochemistry, light microscopic and confocal laser scanning microscopic image acquisition
  • Use of machine learningbased microscopic image analysis tools
  • Undertake relevant coursework if required by mentor
  • Attend relevant meetings
  • Meet regularly with mentor to review project progress and milestones
  • Plan and deliver a seminar on the project
  • Take administrative (inventory, purchasing, etc. ) responsibilities in the lab when necessary
  • Write reports or submit manuscript(s) to a peerreviewed journal describing the project and results
  • Additional duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Doctoral degree (MD or PhD). This position would be applicable for an individual interested an academic career, before, during or after medical/surgical residency acceptable.
